Mechanics Department
The Mechanics department is one of the departments at PTQI that was established to fulfill the need of the Oil Industry in Libya. It supplies the sector with qualified technical cadres in the field of General maintenance which involves operating different types of machines and servicing a variety of equipment such as compressors, pumps, valves and engines.

Graduates of this department can perform the following tasks:- • To train suitable candidates in the modern practice of engineering maintenance of mechanical application, so that skills learnt are employed in the Libyan oil and gas industry.
- • Students graduating from the department take up position as mechanical technicians in the Libyan oil & gas industry.
- • Make the candidates able to know all the requirements regarding the selection at any specific rotating equipment such as (pumps, compressors and engines) and maintain a variety of rotating equipment including assembly-disassembly, over haul, alignment, bearing change.
- • Be able to machine/ manufacture/ repair specified components such as spare parts.
- • Be able to monitoring turbine performance apply their knowledge of operation in maintenance of turbine.
